FAQ
What time-telling skills do first graders learn?
First grade focuses on telling and writing time to the hour and half-hour using both analog and digital clocks (CCSS 1.MD.3). Students learn that the short hand shows the hour and the long hand shows the minutes — pointing to 12 for o'clock and to 6 for half past.
What is the difference between the Read and Draw modes?
Read the clock shows an analog clock and asks the child to write the digital time. Draw the hands shows a digital time (and a blank clock) and asks the child to draw the hour and minute hands. Using both directions builds a stronger understanding than either one alone.
Should I start with hour or half-hour?
Start with “To the hour” only — every time lands on o'clock, which is easiest to read. Once that's secure, switch to “Hour & half-hour” to add the half-past times. The increment control lets you choose.
Are these telling-time worksheets free?
Yes — free, no signup, with an answer key and a freshly randomized set of clocks every time you click Generate New.
