FAQ
What phonics skills do first graders learn?
First grade phonics (CCSS RF.1.3) covers consonant digraphs like sh, ch, and th; decoding short-vowel CVC words (cat, pig, sun); and the final silent-e rule that makes a vowel long (cap → cape). These worksheets give targeted practice on each of those three skills.
What is a digraph?
A digraph is two letters that make one sound — sh, ch, and th are the most common. In the Digraphs mode, the child writes the missing digraph to complete each word (for example __ip → ship).
What does the silent-e rule do?
Adding a silent e to the end of a short-vowel word usually makes the vowel say its name: cap becomes cape, kit becomes kite, tub becomes tube. The Silent-e mode has students add the e and write the new long-vowel word.
